The new Asus GL702VM-DB71 is a 17.3″ gaming laptop with a GTX 1060 and I7-6700HQ. One of the its main features are the relatively low weight and small frame compared to other laptops with such a hardware. It also comes with a GSync support (like many laptops from the new generations for such a price)
It’s rather new, but according to previous generation reviews we can know that this model is average, with ok but not exceptional thermal performance and build quality. The price of $1250 is pretty low for this model and hardware.
According to the manufacturer and reseller’s specifications, the GL702VM-DB71 has a Thunderbolt 3 port (including a USB 3.1 gen 2 port) and maybe an HDMI 2.0, but I’m not sure that’s correct about the HDMI port.
The 1x16GB DDR4 stick is a little problem as you’d want a dual channel configuration instead (like 2x8GB or 2x16GB) and it could probably limit performance in some games, at least a bit.
The GTX 1060 + I7-6700HQ is a good combination of hardware which will run most/all modern games on some very high graphics settings @ 1080p resolution pretty smoothly. So, bottom line, if you are looking for a a 17.3″ machine with such a performance level, I’d recommend looking into this deal, as it’s pretty good. Slap in some cheap M.2 SSD and you got an excellent 17.3″ machine for less around $1300. If you want a 14.0″/15.6″ laptop, there are some other options and it’s better to wait
