Lenovo Y50 I5-4200H

The Lenovo Y50 for $510 with this coupon, including a 1TB SSHD, I7-4700HQ, low quality 1080p display (can be replaced easily) or touch version which is a little better. Really a good option. Another year of warranty is $90 via Cowboom (not sure it’s needed)

A GTX 860M + I7 for $510. In a year or so, you can sell it for almost the same price, if it doesn’t fit your needs. The low quality 1080p display (non-touch) can be easily replaced (though it is the touch version)

What do you think?

I saw that you mentioned “low quality 1080p display (can be replaced easily)”, how would I go about replacing the display with a better one and how much would it cost?
I’m guessing it’ll be enough time/money that I should just wait for a different deal if I care about the display.

Hey Junky, i give a call to cowboom, to have the 1 year warranty u have to pay 80 bucks more, and preowned is basically that the laptop has been used 100% of the times by another user and back to stock. It is still a good deal if you dont want to wait, but don`t spect nothing much more at this price point. Unfortunatelly my country custom agency, any refurbished items are prohibited so i have to put on hold this deal. Thoughts junky? Will it look used if they check it?

what country is it? so you can only new?

ARGENTINA, yes, only new, unfortunately. There is no good deals right now for that specs and price since i can only afford 550/600usd because i have to pay lots of taxes for bringing it!

Junky

Won’t it be better to buy in Argentina? Anyway, for $500 in the US, you can get a laptop with a GT 840M and for $750 with GTX 950M
How much taxes will you pay?

nevermind, the deal is over. I waited too much this deal, lasted 2 weeks but I had too many doubts, im such a pussy, now is 800$ ultramega fuckkkkkk. For you to get an idea this laptop in my country new cost 2300usd, out of the question. I will wait a few more weeks if i can catch a deal, if not i would have to buy some refurb with 850m at 600usd or above. Can it be back in stock the y50 in the future in cowboom for 570?

Don’t know about cowboom, but you might find it on eBay or Lenovo outlet! Anyway, these deals come and go
Can you give me some link to good stores in Argentina?

hey, im from argentina too, try getting the dell 3540 if you cant find any deal, and hurry up, in august they willl close up the Custom (aduana), that will mean you will have to wait several months to get the notebook from them, shit is about to go down in here :/

How do you know they are closing the argentinian aduana and for under what reasons? Thanks for the input, brick

i have a trusty source in the customs in here, and he told me that they were going to close down the import cause of elections and the devaluation of our currency, the dollar is currently at 12 pesos if i buy with my credit card, plus the 50% they make you pay for the customs tax fee, so they can give you the notebook, this notebook will be around $900 with the tax fee and shipping included, but a notebook like this one costs over 2200dlrs, for example the dell 3540 in here costs 1.900dlrs without a FHD display

in here, they just rob us in our face :/, even more with gaming laptops, for example some people sell the msi gt72 basic (i7 4800mq and gtx 870) for around 4000dlrs. which is about 8 months of minimun wage salary saving, and i mean full salary saving lol

Junky

$4000 os about 4 months of minimum wage here, but no is really saving all of that (taxes, food). Anyway. the problem is not gaming laptops really, but housing, food, work (many here are “modern slaves”, even though it’s considered a modern developed country)

the funniest thing is that i work for a Software development company full hours, and my client is in miami, so basically they pay my company in dollars and i get pesos here (minimun wage) is about 600dlrs monthly, my company makes almost 90% profit for my work, lol

The language and culture is what keeping me away (-: people act differently and all of that, and Europe is much more colder than Argentina or my place, in human temps (-:
You can do it for a year or so..

Well, as refurbished for $600 – yes, I would. You’d have to refresh Lenovo outlet every hour to catch a deal
How did you like the 3540?

great notebook the 3540, the only reason im changing it, is for the ULV i5 processor, i loved the FHD display, but theres is something about the lenovo y50 if you buy it VIA cowboom, the only ones that are left are pre owned and with a satisfactoy rate which is below Good (meaning it could have moderate scratches and dent) would you recomend me to buy in lenovo outlet instead?

You can sometimes catch a Y50 with an IPS display from Lenovo outlet, so yes, but you’ll have to refresh it every now and then

dammit :/… right now im playing games like Chivalry Medieval Warfare, CS GO, i also do a lot of programming, for now the 17.3 inch display is a must, and im guessing any gpu above the gtx 860 will do just fine, also the i7 4700hq or similar (4cores 8threads)

An I5 will be great too, and a GTX 850M / 950M DDR3 should be sufficient for CS:GO and CMW for very high settings, but that problem is the 17.3″ thingy

yeah, that actually is the big problem, the only pc cheaper that i could found is the MSI GP70 leopard refurbished, which is around 800dlrs, was thinking about going for the lenovo y70 also

Junky

but why do you really want a 17.3″ laptop? it’s harder to move and the pixel density is lower. If you really want a bigger screen, you can always pick some external display deal (usually for $100-$150 tops for a good IPS). No?

the thing is that i cant get use to the small 15.6″ display, i mostly game in my desktop, and when i go to a friend house with my laptop (3540) i feel like its a lot smaller :/

i used to have a 17.3″ notebook before this one, with an amd a10-5750 and i could tell the diference in the size right away, i travel a lot with my notebook and i feel that 15″ is indeed small for me :/, regarding the external display could be an option, do you know when its the alienware 15 with gtx 965m up again? im thinking that could be a great choice

1. The AW15 is a 15.6″ laptop, remember

2. I still don’t understand what was the problem? is the image too small? I simply trying to understand to be more wise about it..

3. The AW15 refurbished is available for like $900 on eBay

The VN7-591G was selling for $700 not long ago, refurbished
But maybe you can describe what exactly do you need? what kind of games or software that you felt were too much for the 3540?
